Look to the sky!!

Yes, I'm bothering you with more silliness from my camera. I'll begin with something that's been interesting me lately - the sky. :) The past week or so we've been getting these beautiful billowy clouds. I find I can't stop staring and watching their shapes slowly morph and float lazily over the sky.

...and as the day ends, I settle back into my apartment and take pictures of the random things around me. I'm one of those geeky people that have plushies and figurenes around.

But it's fun to set them up in random ways.

Now I picked some little sketches and photographed them (too lazy to get on the scanner). So for your enjoyment, some sideways sketches!
Sandra...

...Ary

Feathers, flowers, frills...

I went out and bought a whole bunch of different types of paper from the craft store. Cream papers, blue papers, green papers... The first result was this very girly painting. I had this sketch stored away in a binder for almost a year, so I figured it was about time to get a finished product out of it. I was trying to go for a softer, more delicate look.
Anyways, other than this, not much going on with me. I need to find my motivation again..! I find I keep sleeping the days away... *sigh*

ps. Troy, next on my list is to finally paint that Angora Napkin pic!! *determined!!*

Copics!!

Thanks to my friend Allie, I was able to try out copic markers for the first time!! Now I'm a little hooked. I ended up colouring 4 pictures and was up until 4am sketching and inking so that I'd have more things to colour!! Once I get back to work and make some more money, I'm going to have to invest in my own
Tisha and her water of doooom!! The outfit is a little bizzare... I've gotta come up with cooler and much more clever outfit designs for her.

Senritsu :) The background is kinda... yeah, not the greatest. At all. The grey sparkles were not a good choice. The original picture was touched up with Nelly's gel pens, so it shines in places in. Too bad it's impossible to scan shiney like that . Oh well :)Sandra. The side of the pic is skewed since she was drawn close to the rings of my sketchbook. I'm trying to draw my characters with better fashion sense. I'm hopeless when it comes to fashion.
Another character of mine from another story. His name is Kazimar Yyntai. I haven't drawn him in a while! Well, I did at the guest art jam at Anime North, but I mean in general I don't draw him much any more. :( I've gotta come up with better ideas and a more solid story structure for this comic. Kaz is a character I'd rather not throw away!!

So, that's pretty much that. Oh, I've had some time to work on In the Air pages, too. :) I have 6 pages of chapter 4 finished!! (well, they still need to be toned.) Here's a sneak peak - some of the pencils!! I can get lazy with pencilling sometimes, so there are notes on areas saying that "in this blank space, draw grass", or "continue with action lines for inks" xD

Enjoy!! And everyone have a great day/night/morning/insert time of day here!!

May was busy... @__@

Hey there! I have returned!! As the title says, May was busy busy busy! I probably didn't have thaaat much to do, but I realize I work at a slow pace, so I end up taking up lots of time on every little thing!! Here was my list:

- Children's book illustrations (flash based work, so things tended to get slow)
- Sample comic page in full colour for a job I was offered. Things worked out and the job is mine! Sa-weet!! :D Now before the month is up I need two more pages for a proposal...
- Teen Encounter: getting letters done for all the teens that would be on the weekend and making up the banner.
- Getting ready for Anime North!! I made a costume, though my sis helped with lots of it. It was my first time cosplaying. xD I'm such a geek, har har!

On top of all this, my car broke down!! D: It's not so bad, since my mom offered to drive us to the grocery stores.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The trip to Toronto was a good one, though. :D I didn't take in much of the sites, but I got to meet up with a friend I worked with last summer. I also got to visit my Uncle, who then drove my sis and I up to see the rest of the family. At the convention, I got to meet Svetlana Chmakova again!! She is so super sweet! I feel like such a geek next to her. We had a guest Artist Jam panel, and there were about 10 people in all. Svet was there, and I met another webcomics artist, Tara Tallan, who was also super awesome and sweet!! She writes the comic called "Galaxion", and I was lucky to buy a copy from her art table later in the weekend. :) I brought my binder with my "In the Air" comic in it, but in the end I was too shy to show them!! xD~!
Anyway, here are some pics from the Art Jam. It really was the highlight of the con for me!
Watching a video on his PSP. This is the guy who drew the Teddy Ruxpin! If you know his name let me know so I can give him credit for his picture!! :D
Nelly with the Matt pic! These pictures went up for auction on Saturday, I guess! :D (I was visiting my friend all Saturday and I missed things!)
Drawing away! :D I love this kind of bonding!! :D
Top left corner = Tara Tallan
Top right corner = My sis, Carolyn
Bottom left corner = me xD
Bottom middle = Svetlana
Bottom right (Teddy Ruxpin) ... Shoot, I forgot his name!! D:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, that's all for now from me. I really want to draw more IN THE AIR, but it has to take back seat, as always! D: Next week the last page of chapter 3 will be posted on Wirepop.com, and then I'll have no choice but to go on hiatus for a couple months... *is sad* The end of June I'll be going back to the office to work on season 2 of Razzberry Jazzberry Jam. I can't wait to finally get steady income again..! haha! Wish me luck!!

"Look!! It's a CN tower!! :D"

Sculpy Clay

Yesterday my friend Nelly came over and we finally finished up our secret project: Clay projects with our ol' pal Sculpy! It's been such a long time since I've made anything out of clay. Jr High and Highschool were I think my prime (since I had soooo much free time after school!!) Anyway, here are some pictures of the night!

Nelly working on her swirls! I was so annoyed with myself! Last night she left before I was able to get a picture of her finished work! Next time I go over to her place I'll have to bring my camera! :D She made a cute cat boy reading a book, and here we see her working on her multicoloured swirl tablet. The finished version of that had a cute pink heart in the middle!

Here are my silly bits of clay, getting ready to go in the oven. Seems I can't get my In the Air work off my mind..! Those little blobs of flat clay next to them were eventually to become their stands.

Here the two are after being painted and spray finished. Sandra ended up looking a little braindead and Fred seems like he's plotting world domination or something! Anyway, here's some more shots of Sandra. I did some turn-around shots so that you could see the whole thing.

...and the detail of the braindead expression! Haha! And now onto Mr. Chalépas..!

Nelly and I made fun of his funny little butt *snerk!!*

Such a fun night! I love doing little crafty bits!! I especially forgot how relaxing making clay figures was! Nelly and I definitely need to have another night of crafting!

Peace out!

Animoo North!!

Hey there!

As the title says, yes, I'm going to ramble on about Anime North.
It's happening at the end of May. It will be my first time at the con, as well as my first time cosplaying! It's been ages since I've sewn anything, so wish me luck!! As for who I'm cosplaying, it's Rin from the japanese DS game Ouendan. (I think her name's Rin if I remember correctly! Haha, my memory sucks!!) She's the pink haired cheerleader below:
My progress so far is that I have everything but the top and the skirt. I've done everything but the sewing part!! (Oh noes!!) My sister Carolyn, whom I'm sharing an apartment with, is much more experienced with cosplay, and has done at least 5 costumes in her time :) She's going to cosplay the leader of the blue cheerleader team from Ouendan, actually. :)

Here are the shoes that I've painted. The symbol is a liiiiittle too big, but I was thankful for that mistake in the end because the details were small enough to paint as is!

Here is the Red Team's symbol. I traced over it in Flash because a) I couldn't find an image of just the logo by itself on a white background and b) Vector images are awesome because you can resize them by any percent and never lose the quality! :D

Here's how the wig looks. It is not the right style - I messed up again there. The back is really short hair D: I'll just settle for this 50% correct wig and get a new one if I feel like it! By the way Teresa, sorry you have such a strange older sister! Haha!

Once things pick up more on the costume, I'll post more images of it. Anyways, it's almost 10 and I haven't eaten breakfast yet @___@. My stomach is mad at me.

I'm very happy 'cause today I'll be seeing my Gnome~! :D We're working on a top-secret project together. (shhhh!!) I'll blog about it once it's done. Speaking of secret projects, I've gotten a third comic project on the go now!! Well, it's not set in stone yet, but feedback on sketches and design are positive. I'm excited too because it'll be my first paying comic job! So wish me luck on that :D

Talk to you guys later, have an awesome day!

...I'm not dead!

Sorry guys for the lack of posts here... :(
I guess I became self conscious of my drawings for a bit there?
Some days I worry that drawing anime/manga style is embarrassing for someone trying out to become professional...
I have to come to terms with the fact that it's what I do and stop feeling embarrassed!
Well, I'll make it up to you and continue posting :)
With that intro, let me post for you some of my recent drawings. :D First off, I went to a local Anime Convention and I actually got some commissions! Here are Alex (redhead) and Skye (goth loli) All in all, I'm happy they turned out all right :) They were commissions, so I tried to make them as clean as possible!! The colouring was very simple, since that's all the commissioners wanted, so there wasn't much opportunity to mess up too bad anyways. Like always, there are some things I could nit-pick about these, but I'll spare you guys!
Okay, more linearts ^^ I really love the inking stage! Anyways, here are the three girls from Angora Napkin, a graphic novel/pilot animation series by Troy Little and Nick Cross. I helped colour some backgrounds for the episode "Avacadaver", so I was wanting to do a fanart for Troy as a present. Since I'm always all over the place, this only made it to the lineart stage!! Hopefully soon I'll be able to slap some colour onto it... :3 (ps, sorry for the watermark there! It's to stop anyone else from colouring it before me...)

Okay, now onto some comic stuffies~!

I think I mentioned before that I'm working on an online comic.

If not, well, I am, and it's called "In The Air", and is available on Wirepop.com.

Needless to say, it eats up lots of my time!

But it's fun and I've always enjoyed writing/drawing comics, so to me it's time well spent! :D

I'm finishing up toning the last pages of chapter 3 and have started drawing out chapter 4.

I'll post some pages so you can see what's going on...

The story is only just taking off, so I keep wanting to draw out the pages rather than working on what I'm supposed to be doing @__@ And then I also plan on going back and touching up the earlier artwork so I can get the chapters printed up in book form. Waagh, I've gotta get to my REAL work~! Haha!

I'm also working on another comic project. I'm collaborating with a writer for this one! So far there aren't many pages drawn up, so it's staying secret for now. ;)

For now, I'll end this here. I promise I'll keep up with this blog better! @__@;;
